1) Listen to the first ten tracks from someone's radio.
2) Write down your thoughts on the individual songs and a final conclusion.

1. Kate Bush - Egypt
What a great start! This is just such a gorgeous song in every way- the melodies are haunting, the production gives off a spooky atmosphere and Kate Bush's voice is outstanding, as usual. This is actually one of my least favorites from the album too, that's how much I like it.
[10/10]
2. Brian Eno - Silver Morning
A pleasant track, not the best guitar sound in the world but all the synths in the background make it worthwhile.
[6/10]
3. Black Mountain - Wucan
Can't help but tap along to this song, it has a really 'driving' feel to it. It's also quite easy to get lost in it, especially if you listen to the hypnotizing bass line. Great jam in the middle.
[8/10]
4. The Notwist - Consequence
So simple but so sweet. You've gotta have no heart if you don't love how 'nice' this song is.
[9/10]
5. Bon Iver - Re: Stacks
I like his voice, but being someone who doesn't usually listen to lyrics, I quickly lose interest in guitar/voice only songs where they are meant to be the center of attention.
[4/10]
6. Bonnie 'Prince' Billy - A Minor Place
Probably the least inventive use of the bass ever but along with the drums, it keeps the song going. Nice piano sound and the vocal harmonies are pretty great. I like it.
[7/10]
7. Shellac - The Admiral
Woo ugly guitars that actually go somewhere melody-wise!
[8/10]
8. R. Kelly - Gotham City
Oh man.. so epic. Beautiful harmonies, chords, vocals, everything. Plus it's about Gotham City.
[9/10]
9. Peter Gabriel - That Voice Again
Very 80s-sounding, but I don't really think there's anything special here.
[5/10]
10. Sigur Ros - Staralfur
So unbelievably beautiful.
[9/10]
OVERALL: There wasn't much I hadn't listened to before, but a lot that I am not familiar with; some still failed to impress me but some tracks sounded a lot better when singled out. I will probably be listening to some Shellac and Black Mountain to satisfy my 'guitarry side' and also to Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and R. Kelly (oh yeah!) for the other side.

1. Andy McKee - Africa
Interesting cover of an already great song. The section changes need some work but the guitar sound and Andy's playing ability are pretty good.
[6/10]
2. Béla Fleck and the Flecktones - Zona Mona
Not much to say about this one.. great playing.
[7/10]
3. Porcupine Tree - Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before It Is Recycled
This song is great, as is the rest of Lightbulb Sun. I love the spacey feel. Not sure what's up with Steven Wilson's dry-as-hell vocals on this though.
[8/10]
4. Tool - Hush
Not as big a fan of the old Tool because their songs don't quite have the same majestic atmosphere but this one is pretty catchy and Maynard is pissed.
[7/10]
5. Meshuggah - Sane
Yes! I was waiting for some Meshuggah! and yeah it's pretty heavy but unfortunately it doesn't really go anywhere.
[4/10]
6. Infected Mushroom - Heavyweight
I don't really like trance but the way these guys bring in all these influences is pretty amazing.
[7/10]
7. Elton John - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting
Woo, crazy song!
[8/10]
8. Jaga Jazzist - Airborne
Awesome mix, awesome solos, awesome transitions from soft to crazy.
[8/10]
9. Train - Drops of Jupiter
You've gotta be kidding me... Ewan and I were talking about how we never wanted to hear this song again before we played it at the ball and here it is. Imagining I haven't heard/played it millions of times though, it's a catchy song and the string arrangements totally make the song.
[7/10]
10. Tommy Emmanuel - Padré
Damn this guy can fingerpick. This song is so relaxing too.
[6/10]
I think this is a fairly good representation of Ewan's taste though it definitely needs more Maroon 5 and some hip-hop/JT.
c) fatdanielskinny
1. Thelonious Monk - Straight, No Chaser
[6/10]
2. Miles Davis - Rouge
[7/10]
3. Sonny Rollins - Shadow Waltz
[6/10]
4. Cannonball Adderley
[5/10]
5. Easy Star All-Stars - The Tourist
Well, the original is on maybe the best album of all time so I don't think this could ever be bad, but obviously no cover is going to be as good either. It's different but it works nicely.
[8/10]
6. MGMT - Time to Pretend
Daaamn that main theme is catchy.
[8/10]
7. Charles Mingus - Duke Ellington's Sound Of Love
This is a good sound for love.
[8/10]
8. Sun Ra - Shadow World
This stuff can be alright, but never amazing.
[4/10]
9. M. Ward - Transfiguration #1
[8/10]
10. Albert Ayler - Spirits Rejoice
This was some of the better free jazz i've heard, better than that Sun Ra song anyway.
[6/10]
Well it's clear that Daniel likes his jazz and his radio station proves that. I'm fine with the more traditional forms of jazz but sometimes listening to free jazz for a long period of time can hurt my ears. That said, I don't really dislike the genre, I just can't really get the same amount of enjoyment out of listening to it than I can from what I listen to.
